WANA (Nov 26) – The German ambassador quietly returned to his post in Tehran.

After the death of Jamshid Sharmahd in prison, who held German citizenship, Markus Potzel, the German ambassador to Tehran, left the city on November 1 as a sign of protest.

Sharmahd was the leader of the Kingdom Assembly of Iran, also known as Tondar, which had a history of terrorist activities inside Iran.

Nevertheless, reports indicate that Potzel has quietly resumed his duties at the embassy in Tehran in recent days.

Interestingly, while the embassy publicized his departure widely, they have not given any media coverage of his return.

This is not the first time a German ambassador has left Iran and later returned. A similar event occurred in the mid-1990s.
